Here is where I show how to make a homemade Quinine. Quinine is very close to Hydroxychloroquine and recommended as a drink to protect against “Co/vid’ symptoms such as a cold or flu… and/or treat any shedding from the Co/vid jab.

Preparing the lemons

I start off with 3-4 lemons. It’s good to use those with a think skin. Mine here were not as think as I like them to be.

Squeeze 3-4 lemons

Squeeze out all the juice…

Strain the juice

Then strain all the juice, throwing away just the seeds and any pith left.

I freeze the juice in ice-block trays

I use little silicon trays to freeze any excess lemon juice which I love to drink every morning in my cup of tea.

And then save them in a container

This is what they look like once they are frozen and have been emptied into a container. The blocks shown here are some ginger juice that were already in the freezer. I add that to my morning cup of tea as well. πŸ™‚

I took out the pith (maybe not necessary)

Preparing the grapefruit

Now I don’t know if it’s necessary to pull out the pith. I had heard this is what you should do, but I don’t really know why… maybe next time I’ll skip this step.

Cut open 3 ruby grapefruit

Now let’s prepare the grapefruit. I prefer to use ruby Grapefruit but I’m not sure it matters.

Remove the flesh. Either squeeze first for juice, or remove in chunks

I squeezed one here for juice but the others I just pulled the flesh out in chunks. Just depends what you want to use it for… to drink or eat.

Lemon and grapefruit skins ready to cook

Cooking the homemade Quinine

OK, all the skins are now prepared and ready to be cooked.

Add about 2.5 litres

You take a large saucepan and add about 2.5 litres of filtered water.

Add all the peels

Add in all the skins. I pushed them under the water but at this stage they still rose to the top again.

Simmer and cook

Cover with a lid and do not open it again throughout the whole cooking process.and until it has cooled completely. This is because they say that if you lift the lid the Quinine will escape in the steam. I can’t prove that, but decided to follow the instructions!

Leave until it’s completely cool

Turn it down and leave it to simmer for about 3 – 3.5 hours. Once the time is up, and without lifting the lid, leave it to completely cool down.

Bottling the homemade Quinine

homemade Quinine very similar to Hydroxychloroquine
Bottle and keep in the fridge

Tip it into a bottle and store in the fridge. Because there is quite a lot of Quinine, I’m thinking I may freeze it as I’m not too sure if it will stay good for as long as it takes to use it up.

Finding further use for the skins

I decided to see if the strained skin would make a marmalade

I looked at all those nice skins and wondered what I could do with them. Ahh… maybe I could make a marmalade out of them.

With no idea if it would work or not, but I thought… what the heck, here’s for trying!

I sliced them all up, added water and sugar and boiled it. Not liking to use much sugar, I decided to go ahead with the exercise anyway.

Yep… not perfect, but still pretty good!

It actually turned out ok! My husband was doing a rave… he loved it!

So cool really as I ended up with no waste whatsoever by using the whole fruit.

Dosing with your homemade Quinine

Remember, this mixture is supposed to be very close to Hydroxychloroquine. Not everyone has access to Hydroxychloroquine and if you love to make your own tonics… this is definitely for you:

Quinine homemade
Add 15ml

The tonic we have made up is pretty strong and bitter. Maybe some people can drink it straight, but I prefer to add about 15ml to a glass…

homemade Quinine
Then add Tonic Water

And then add Tonic Water. BTW… if you are using store-bought Tonic Water, as this above shows, please make sure it doesn’t contain Aspartame. That for sure, will pull down your health rather than build it up!

We simply sip the tonic and find it really enjoyable.

I’m planning on trying it with homemade soda water, but haven’t done so yet. If it’s good, I will not be buying anymore Tonic Water.

Tonic Water itself contains a certain amount of Quinine.

So what are the dose instructions?

For prevention we take the tonic 2 – 3 times a day.

If you have symptoms of shedding, you may need to up your doses… and include Pine Needle Tea.

Homemade Quinine is not hard to make and it makes a lot in one go, so why not give it a try?

101 Thoughts to “Homemade Quinine / HCQ – Easy Steps To Make Your Own”

  1. Jeffrey

Thanks, Marilyn. I have made my home made quinine on 26 June and have taken some of it. Much of it is still in the refrigerator. I see sine white ball-like residue at the bottom of the container. Wonder what are those?
The quinine is giving me some gastritis. Not sure if I should continue with it or not.

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Jeffrey!
Good on you! I’m so proud of you going the extra mile!
No, the quinine is actually doing you good and allowing your body to rid itself of unwanted substances. But, you need to back off the amount you are taking.
My first batch of quinine also gradually had the residue on the bottom. I think it’s just a gradual separation. I got to use about half of the batch before it went off. I have since made another, stronger batch and simmered it a bit longer so that it is a bit more syrupy than the first batch.
How much are you taking? My current dose is 1 stonger batch 15mls and then add bought Quinine (be careful about the ingredients as some contain aspartame). I would fill the glass, but just enough so that it becomes more palatable. In my first batch I began to take 2 15mls spoon fulls.
Whatever you are taking, but it in at least half, or even more in necessary. Once your body comes right gradually up the dose.
Let me know how you get on. πŸ™‚

Instead of contaminating your pure home-made quinine with store bought, bottled tonic water.. why not just use natural sparkling mineral water like the Gerolsteiner ? or Spring Valley Sparkling Water?
… And if you feel a need to to sweeten it, why not use a hint of raw honey (instead of processed sugar) as raw honey contains amazing natural enzymes that can aid in digestion.

        1. Stoop Dogg

That’s exactly what I do… most tonic water has high fructose corn syrup too… the really good stuff uses cane sugar, but there’s no need to buy that expensive stuff…

I mix about 3-4 oz. into a quart bottle of seltzer I make with my clean well water. Then I fill up a glass about 3/4 with my home made tonic water and top it off with a juice, like pomegranate, grapefruit or cranberry. It’s really good just like that. If I want it a little sweeter, I add a small amount of erythritol.

  2. honingbij

    Hello Marilyn:

Thanks for this post and the great pictures that accompanied it!

I’m making my first batch right now.

Question: Can the juice be frozen into ice-cube trays and not lose its effectiveness?

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Honingbij!
I’m glad you found the post helpful… that’s great.
I cannot see why not. If it was left in the freezer for a long time then yes, it would lose its nutrient value, but I don’t think it would last that long!
I regularly juice ginger and squeeze excess supplies of lemons and freeze them in ice cubes. Just makes sense to me. πŸ™‚

  3. Janet

Can you make this quinine in the insta pot and take and

    1. Marilyn Williams

Hi Janet… Unfortunately I’m not familiar with the insta pot. You can use anything that simmers the mixture slowly for 3+ hours. I’m not sure what else you intended to ask. Sorry.

  4. Pamela

How do you make tonic water ? I got your lemon and great fruit rec. for flu. Can I just put the lem.,great fruit 15ml in an 1oz of distilled water or does it need to be tonic water? And what’s brand of essential oils do you recommend. I’m concerned time is running out for us.

    1. Marilyn Williams

Thanks for contacting me. You certainly can add the lemon/grapefruit mixture into water… it’s a matter of taste. I just find that when we add it to Tonic Water I look forward to the drink rather than swallowing something down as best I can! It’s up to you.

There are recipes around for making your own Tonic Water… I haven’t gone into that yet. It’s something I thought I should do… At the moment we buy a good quality Tonic Water as I find the cheap ones use ingredients I’m not so happy with.

As for what brand of essential oils? I use doTerra because they are of such high quality. You can see the brand I use here: https://www.mydoterra.com/marwil/
Yes, it is good that we consume these various products at a time like this. Anything to keep the immune system ‘up there’ as best we can. Of-course along with this, eat good, drink good… lots of veggies, wholesome fruits etc… and cut down on sugar consumption.

On another note, doTerra have been donating money to the rescuing of children long before all of this horror came to light. That is the very first thing that attracted me to this company… they are actively involved.

  5. Kevin

Do you bring the water, grapefruit and Lemons peels to a boil then turn it down to simmer for 3-4 hours? What temp do you simmer it in for the time needed?
    Thanks!

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Kevin!
I boiled the water in my jug first and then tipped it over the grapefruit and lemon peels while it sat on the cooktop. I needed to boil the jug twice.
Once the water comes up near boiling again I switched it right down so that it simmered gently. My cooktop doesn’t tell me what the actual temperature is.
You will start to see the liquid reduce and become a little more syrupy.
Make sure you leave the lid on tight once the time is up. I have since heard that if you lift the lid too early it allows the Quinine to escape. I don’t know if that is true or not but thinking it’s what I will always do in future, just in case.
      You’re welcome. πŸ™‚

  6. Clay

Hi, Just made a batch and worked really well. Wondering if one couldn’t waterbath can the liquid to preserve it?

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Clay!
I’ve been thinking about what you said and I can’t see why not. Could be a good idea if you have what it takes. Good thinking!

      1. Becca

I was thinking the same thing

    2. Tina

Hi, I just made a big batch today and wondered the shelf life. I was wondering too about ‘canning’ or freezing what I made to keep it. I will try the water bath canning and hope for the best. Thank you!

  7. Paula

Show long can it be kept in the refrigerator?

    1. Marilyn Williams

I’m not exactly sure Paula. I made a batch to begin with and I know I had to throw about half of it out, but I do think it was in the fridge for maybe a month… which is a long time.
The next batch I made I froze half of it into ice cubes and the first half lasted with no problems until it ran out.
I would do one of two things… make a smaller batch or freeze the 2nd half of it. As has been suggested, it could be canned as well.
It also depends how many people are using it too. In my case there are two of us at the moment, using 15ml each per day. If we had symptoms we would up that of-course.
Just have to see what works for you.

      1. Danielle Sandlin-Herskovits

I read a lot of homemade quinine recipes that suggest no longer than 2 weeks in the fridge before they go bad.

        1. Marilyn Williams

I always smelled my quinine before using. I knew exactly when the time had come to throw the rest away. But these days, I keep some in the fridge and freeze the rest into cubes. I find they melt very quickly and I have no waste at all.

        2. Becky A Holguin

If you have, or know some who has a vaccume sealer, I would think if you put the juice in the sealer bag leaving a few inches on top, secure it in the freezer then vacuum seal it. Leave in freezer till you need it again. Leave about 6 ” of room on top to re-seal it if needed.

          1. Marilyn Williams

Great info Becky! I’ve only just bought one as it turns out so am planning to try it.

          2. Shielah

Yes I use a vacuum sealer in a ball jar to save half of mine , the other half last me about 2-3 weeks – not good after 3. I’ve done this for over a year now .

  8. Mike Guidice

Hi, can you just explain the dosage again for me? Do you take it daily without being sick ? How much of the quinine and how much of the tonic ? I just wanna be sure as I’m bad with dosing lol

    1. Mike Guidice

Is it 15ml of quinine then add tonic ontop of it ?

      1. Marilyn Williams

That’s what I do Mike! I add enough Tonic Water to make it palatable to me… I’m sure it doesn’t matter how much.

    2. Marilyn Williams

Yes we have been taking it daily and no, we are not sick or have any symptoms. I chiefly drink it because I’ve got to look forward to it!
Really, with the dosing you can play around with it to your liking.
If you get some cold or flu symptoms, or anything that bothers you, just up the dose… in other words, have it say 3-4 times a day for a few days until the symptoms have gone.
      Hope that helps you.

  9. Leslie Harris

This is another canning question for clarification. Can ths drink be frozen in the jar? Should they be canning sealed first or just go right in?

Other instructions say simmer for 2 hr. Why 3-3.5 here? Bigger batch?

    Thank you.

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Leslie,
I guess you could try it. Of-course the jar would have to have plenty of head space or the jar will crack.
I have never actually done canning myself so not an authority… sorry.
I have also seen various times mentioned, right down to simmer it long enough to create a fairly thick syrup. Mine is a little syrupy but I wouldn’t in any way call it thick. I’m not too sure the exact length matters, and anyway as you say, grapefruit come in different sizes, and lemons… so it’s not really an exact science.
      Just have fun with it.

  10. Sandee

Hi! Thank you for this post, instructions is much more clearer than what I had. Btw can children take this too? I don’t see why not? Thank you

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Sandee!
I’m glad you find it helpful!
You know, I’m a little unsure about children. I know the medicine the doctors’ prescribe should be kept well away from children, but that would be because of whatever else they may have in there. Somehow I don’t think the pharmacists have a pot boiling out the back, do you?
Maybe you could give a very, very mild dose to start with and then increase as 1) they show no reaction and 2) they become more accustomed to the taste.
It’s pretty strong. I add a fair amount of Indian Tonic Water to it, but I can imagine most children would turn their nose up at that! Maybe a little juice… whatever works for you.

      1. Sandee

Thank you so much Marilyn your response is much appreciated! We will try small dose and juice is a good option for them. πŸ™‚ β€οΈπŸ™πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

  11. sharon

Is the grapefruit the essential item? Can it be made with lemons, limes and oranges? My husband cannot take grapefruit.

    thank you.

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hello Sharon!
I’m presuming your husband cannot have grapefruit because he’s on heart medication of some sort.
Apparently grapefruit is the main component, so just using other citrus fruit may not give the same ‘bang’! I may be wrong though.
I’m thinking you might be better going to one of the other ideas such as Pine Needle Tea or a tea made from Star Anise or Fennel.
      https://mouthfulmatters.com/pine-needle-tea-easy-to-make-massive-health-punch/
      https://mouthfulmatters.com/suramin-contained-in-these-unusual-foods-and-spices/
There is another solution that could provide the answer also… MMS
      https://mouthfulmatters.com/mms-a-powerful-purge-to-overcome-parasites-pathogens/
It’s very powerful and doesn’t involve making a tea. We take this every day and it’s just a matter of adding a few drops etc. You can purchase it from a good health store or I guess online.
      Hope that helps Sharon…

  12. Miranda Davis

What is your recipe for the marmalade? We made the quinine and have all of these peels between the grapefruit and the lemons.

    1. Marilyn Williams

Oh Miranda I did it very simply indeed. I’m not really into jam making but simply added sufficient sugar and boiled it until it gelled. My husband in particular really loves it. I do too. Apart from the added sugar it should be pretty good for you to have on occasion.
I think I added maybe 3/4 to 1 cup of sugar to the whole batch, I’m not really sure. I was basically playing and thought to myself if it doesn’t work, oh well,, at least I tried!
But really, the taste is really good.
I’d love to hear what you do… you might work to a more exact science than I did. πŸ™‚

  13. Hana

Thank you for the recipe . I will try the marmalade maybe with cinnamon and cloves .
And for my family I dehydrated the grep. lemon peel and store it in big jar. For case, you can not get fresh fruit. Works perfect. Have a blessed day

    1. Marilyn Williams

That sounds really yummy Hana! And what a good idea about dehydrating the peels. I cannot always get hold of organic fruit, so when I do get a whole heap it would be a good thing to do. Great thinking!

  14. Sunnie Oliver

Hi! Just wondering if you know how long it lasts I’m the fridge? I made mine over a month ago and it’s not used up. It doesn’t smell bad and I hate to waste it. Do you think it’s still good or do you know how to tell if it goes bad?

    Thanks so much!

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Sunnie!
When I made my first lot I put it all in the fridge and gradually worked through it. As time went on I began to use my nose to make sure it was still OK. It was fine until one day it smelled off. Then I threw it out.
Since then I’ve worked smarter. I keep out a certain amount in the fridge, but the rest I freeze in ice cube trays. I know that the amount I need to use is 2 ice cubes per drink as they are fairly little. I make my drinks using 15ml plus added Tonic Water to make it palatable.

  15. Glenn

    G’day Marilyn,
Just cooking up some skins now. My pot has a glass lid but steam is still escaping slightly. Do you think that will hinder the outcome?

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Glenn,
No I do not believe that could be a problem because steam always has to find it’s way out. If it didn’t the pot would blow up. Even a pressure cooker needs to allow for the escape of steam. The little holes they have in the lids just means the steam comes out through there rather than escaping around the outsides of the lid.

  16. Cath

    Hi Marilyn
Unfortunately with the meds I am on, I’m unable to have grapefruit. Would this work with just lemons and/or citrus fruits?
    Thanks
    Cath

    1. Marilyn Williams

Hi Cath… I had a similar question the other day so I’ll copy it here…

Apparently grapefruit is the main component, so just using other citrus fruit may not give the same β€˜bang’! I may be wrong though.

I’m thinking you might be better going to one of the other ideas such as Pine Needle Tea or a tea made from Star Anise or Fennel.

  17. Mike

Thanks for this info, I came across it after seeing the Quinine meme floating around on Telegram. My question is; where did this originate? How do we know it’s true, and that it works the same as HCQ?

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hello Mike!
I’m sorry, I can’t tell you who originally came up with the recipe, but I can tell you of people who have first hand knowledge of it working for them. Janet Ossebaard who compiled the Fall of the Cabal is one who came into contact with v/a/x people and immediately became quite sick. She drank this ‘potion’ a number of times a day and became well again in no time.
HCQ is made in a lab while this is just the natural alternative.
It is only natural that the msm etc debunk it as that is what they do.

      1. mike

I totally understand; I also just discovered chlorine dioxide and watched the documentary on it; seems like powerful stuff to have in your arsenal too!

        1. Marilyn Williams

Yes Mike, as you know I show you how to make it. We take it every day. Highly recommend it.

  18. I made mine in a crockpot and let it slow cook on low for 8 hours. I covered the top with a couple of towels and let it cool off naturally. It took several hours. I threw some ginger in the pot too. It turned out great! I need to make more.

    1. Marilyn Williams

That’s a wonderful idea Montse! I like the idea of adding the ginger… I might do that next time.
I love when people share their great ideas… thank you!

  19. Honey

Thanks for this whole post. As you know, goo / gil censors everything to do with this recipe. My question is whether or not the dried peels will work, as I bought mine at bulkfoods(dot)com bc fresh grapefruit this time of year isn’t easy to find. I saw one comment on this, but not a conclusive answer.
Also, what about getting the cinchona bark, is the recipe the same, just simmer it slowly w/lid? I’m trying to figure out how many tablespoons of my dried peels to make a quart of final solution and plan on sharing this formula as well as results on my gab channel, so many there are really interested in this!

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Honey,
I cannot believe that somehow I missed answering this post. I really apologise!
I believe the dried peels should work well because as you say, you can’t always source fresh.
I have heard but not tried, that the cinchona bark is even stronger again than pine needles.
As for the amount, I guess a good handful would be sufficient, but maybe by now you have long figured it out.
It would be really great if you would forgive me and come back with what you find works. πŸ™‚

  20. Kasey

Please explain what β€œshedding” is for ones who have had the injection?

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Kasey,
Shedding is when an un/vax person has close contact with someone who’s had the j/ab. Different complaints are experienced which seem to co-incidentally happen after that contact.
It is not well documented from what I understand, as to how long it is better to stay away from those ja/bbed. I’ve heard up to 4 months. Some way 2 weeks.
A better way is to make sure your immune system is in tip-top condition as it will protect you form anything going on. Work at it. I mean, at the end of the day, how do you know when you’ve come into close contact with a j/a/b/b/e/d person? Not always.
We cannot live our lives in fear, but please make a point of being proactive in your health.

      1. Tina

Hi, I believe it’s many months. Listen to Dr. Tenpenny and Clay Clark. I’m very in tune to those who are j/ab/bed bc my skin reacts within minutes. The longer I’m exposed, the worse I feel! I’ve been around those who had it over 4 months be near me and BAM! I feel it! I don’t know what the heck it is other than, it’s NOT good what’s in the vial!! I have zero reaction around those who are ‘Purebloods’ aka non/jab/. I’m just expressing my experiences. I am also emf/chemical sensitive…better than a meter, I’ve been told by 2 Drs. So do protect yourselves, keep a distance, ride this wave with prayers and educate family and friends to NOT get it/them!!

Also, I just canned 6 jars of HCQ/quinine. I hope it maintains the healing powers.

        1. Marilyn Williams

Wow Tina, that says it all! Your own experiences makes it ever so clear.
As it’s almost impossible to stay clear of all the jabb/ed, it’s wiser for us to make sure we are continually building our immune systems strong.
along with this of-course, is prayer and the faith for health that was bought for us 2,000 odd years ago.
That was a good move to can your NCQ/quinine… I feel fairly certain it should maintain at least most of its properties.
Thank you so much for sharing.

  21. Tracy Rickard

Is it totally ruined if I took the lid off before it cooled? I guess I just wasted 3 hours of cooking and all my fruit if so.

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Tracy,
I have no way of really testing the batch to say yes or no, I simply followed what others said. Someone, somewhere must have had a way to find out that the quinine had dissipated.
My first batch, I took the lid off before it cooled. I used it anyway. The taste is definitely no different one way or another.
I would advise you to use it anyway.

  22. Nathan Loggins

what is a daily dose in tea spoons?

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Nathan,
      3 teaspoons = 15 mls
      1 teasppon = 5 ml

  23. Violet

What do you think about freezing the rinds for future batches?

Thank you for explaining this wonderful recipe so well.

    1. Marilyn Williams

Hi Violet… I think it’s a great idea. I already have a number of batches of organic lemon rinds sitting in my freezer. No reason why you couldn’t do it with the grapefruit as well. Of-course, I wouldn’t let them get too old, but use them within a reasonable time, and it should be fine.

  24. Violet

    Oh, one more question,
I love it in hot water with a little honey, it’s like a nice tea. What do you think of heating it again, does it remove the medicinal effects?

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi again Violet!
I’m really not certain. If the water is very hot, like tea, it may not be good… but having it in warm water at a ‘just right’ drinking heat should be no problem at all.
It’s a good idea really, especially in cooler weather. Good for you!

  25. RAch

HI there Marilyn, thank you. I wonder if someone on blood thinners is ok to use it.

    1. Marilyn Williams

      H Rach!
I would be careful in I were on blood thinners. It would be wise to check with a health professional first.

  26. candtalan

Thanks for the great descriptions! Mike Adams Health Ranger has suggested adding 10% vodka to liquid extracts to help preservation, avoid going off.

    1. Marilyn Williams

Yes, for those who want they certainly can do that Candtalan and it will do the job very well. I think I would prefer to freeze it, but that’s just me. Thank you for sharing that info with our readers.

  27. Mrs. Lisa mickey

THANK YOU.. love all your comments to questions too. I learn a lot reading through those.

look forward to checking out the info you publish on this page.
    well done !

    1. Marilyn Williams

Thank you Lisa, I’m so happy you enjoy the post. We can all learn from each other and readers sometimes add some very valuable info. Thanks to all.

Hello I’m wondering what the exact daily dose is? How much hqc to tonic water? Can you drink it every day or is meant to take only when sick? Can children take it everyday?

    1. Marilyn Williams

Hi John, sorry for the delay.
I don’t believe there is an exact dosage. I add about 1 tablespoon of hcq into a glass and add sufficient Tonic Water to make it palatable. That could differ for each person. As a preventative, that is the amount I take… but if any symptoms of any kind were to come along then I would definitely up the dose. Have about the same, but many more times a day. I would back it off once the symptoms subside.
You know what they say, too much of anything is never good… so don’t overdo it. Listen to your body.
I would recommend taking Chlorine Dioxide on a daily basis as it’s also very cheap but powerful. https://mouthfulmatters.com/chlorine-dioxide-powerful-against-spike-proteins-in-your-body/
If you can make it sufficiently palatable for your children, then I don’t see any reason why they can’t take some each day. But there are other things they might prefer like Fennel tea… make it fairly strong and keep in fridge. It depends on what they can tolerate.
One again, Chlorine Dioxide is completely safe, even for babies. Just don’t go overboard on the dose.
One of the main things is to be conscious of building your immune system strong. Leave off all the junk foods and concentrate on each mouthful being nutrient dense. If the immune system is strong that is your best defense.

Why wouldn’t you add the juice to the pot along with the peelings and the water ?
Seems like there would be more benefit from the juice than the water.

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi William,
Apparently there is some in the juice but most of it is contained in the peelings.
There is no problem whatsoever in adding the juice but I wouldn’t cook it… I’d add it later.

I have made a number of batches of quinine and frozen it into ice cubes. I take two cubes each morning, add some boiling water to melt them. Add an effervescent Vitamin C tablet and then a small amount of cold water. Then gulp it down. The Vit C takes away the bitter taste and is an added booster in protecting you!

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Helen,
It sounds like you have found your way on how to take it. Good for you! Thank you for sharing with us.

I wonder if using a nebulizer would be a more efficient way to transport the active ingredients into the bloodstream. Not sure if the acidity (if there is any from the lemons) would be harmful to ones lungs. Any info on the advisability of transporting the active ingredients into oneβ€˜s body using a nebulizer?

    1. Marilyn Williams

I really don’t know Jack! I have never seen any suggestions of using a nebulizer for quinine. It may work, but what if it did cause issues with your lungs. I don’t think I would rely on it for myself. But… good thinking… and who knows, it may work. More research required.

Can you use a potato peeler and just get top potion of the rinds

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Terry!
It is my understanding that most of the quinine is in the white part of the skin. Quinine is bitter, and the white part is very bitter so it seems to make sense.
I mix it with Indian Tonic Water which does contain some sugar.

    Thank you

  34. Julie

Hi Marilyn, is this strictly for prevention or shedding, or is it also effective for c0/v!d? If so, is there a recommended dosage for adults in early symptom stages or several days in?

    Thanks!

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Julie!
There appears to be varied opinions on this. I do think that it’s best for the treatment of symptoms rather than a daily dose.
About 1 tablespoon every hour together with a zinc tablet to bring up phlegm etc. Reduce as symptoms subside.
I would add it to Indian Tonic Water (made with a little sugar only) to make it palatable.

It has been very informative to read the questions asked of you and your responses. Great that you take the time to help folks out. I have made a couple of batches and I have put locally grown honey in the tonic for taste purposes. Is there any reason that you know of to not use honey? Thank you so much for your time! Cathy

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Cathy… thank you!
Adding honey is fine of-course, but make sure the honey is not heated above what your finger can tolerate when added to the drink. This is because it destroys the benefits of the honey.
Add it after you have made up the batch, not during.

  36. Cathy Grauerholz

Thank you, Marilyn, for your quick response! I didn’t think honey would harm any of the benefits of this tonic, just wanted to be sure! I have just been adding the honey after I have strained my liquid out and before I refrigerate or freeze, the honey doesn’t like to dissolve very well after it’s cold. Adding a little honey makes it easier for hubby and I to make sure we take our immune support! Thanks so much for your support to so many! πŸ™‚

You’re more than welcome Cathy… anytime.

Thanks for the information. It was very helpful. I wanted to share that it is extremely important to wash the skin of the fruit before boiling. Learned the hard way. Thanks for being a light.

    1. Marilyn Williams

Very good point Jim! And… just washing the fruit under running water is not really sufficient. Sprays are designed to stick to the fruit when it’s raining. Even a good splash of white cleaning vinegar & some baking soda, a little soak and then gently scrub the fruit with a brush… all helps.
      Thank you!

  39. Helen

Hi marilyn I have been taking it everyday for about 18 months and am wondering whether I should take a break from it. Thanks Helen

    1. Marilyn Williams

      That’s a good question Helen!
I think maybe taking a break from it would be a good move and only take it up again if you come in contact with anyone or any symptoms of come upon your body. I don’t take it all the time anymore but if I’m in a situation where huggy jabbed relatives throw their arms around me I may start taking it for a few days.
Generally speaking, if your immune system is strong, you shouldn’t experience too many symptoms at all. So this is what I’d work on, on a continual basis.

  40. Luiza

    hello,
thank you for the post. i am little confused why you got excess lemon skins? i thought all of the skin went into a pot. It seems that the juice was what was left over. Or idid i get it somehow wrong?
    Thanks, Luiza

    1. Marilyn Williams

Hi Luiza, No, there are no excess of lemon skins. They all get cooked up in the brew. Sorry if it’s not clear to you.

  41. Mildred

Hi thank you for the post & the question s & reply s. Very informative. Have you ever read Back to Eden by Jethro kloss? in this guide to herbal meds he gives a table indicating suggested safe doses. You can buy the book online. it is a good guide.

    1. Marilyn Williams

Sounds wonderful Mildred. I will look it up. Thanks for sharing.

I made two batches. The first failed – It was made in a pot which the lid would not seal tight. There was literally no liquid after cooking time and cooling. Even tried mashing the cooked peals to salvage something – but nothing.
Second attempt hit out of the park. Made it in the Instant Pot. Cooked it on the stew setting for for 30 minutes x2 = 1 hour. It looked good at 30 min but thought it would be even better at 60, and it was. The color was gorgeous bright orange, where the first 30 minutes wasn’t as bright in color. Sweetened it with a bunch of liquid stevia, to taste, and it was delicious. Wouldn’t even know it’s medicine.
Best part is it worked better on my kick butt flu. Better than anything I’ve ever tried! With only 2-3 doses I woke up with a barrel chest cough that sounded like thunder which downgraded to an annoying but non dangerous respiratory issue. I’ve had pneumonia a bunch so I know, including from the thing and ended up in hospital. Scary. This blew my mind how fast and powerful it worked. Hubby thought he’d be taking me to the ER but now he can hardly believe my recovery. I also took GSE (grapefruit seed extract) the first 2 days to ward off respiratory infection. I fill up ’00’ capsules (apx 20 drops) and take them 3x daily and it works amazing for the lungs too. Amazing – Amazing! Thank you so much β™₯

How wonderful you shared your experience with us Elle. Thank you so much. It will really help others as they go through their cooking experiences.

  43. Ruth Brown

    Hi Marilyn,
I have been making HCQ since 2021 in a large pot on top of my electric stove. My question
is can I use my pressure cooker?? My large pot lets way too much steam and water escape,
no matter what I use on top to cover it. Thank you for all your wonderful information,

    1. Marilyn Williams

      Hi Ruth!
I can see no real reason why you couldn’t use your pressure cooker. I think though, it would be good to simply leave the cooker to cool down rather than releasing the immense amount of steam at the end of cooking.
      What do you think?
I would be interesting to learn how it goes for you and how it turns out.
      Thank you!
